I have visited Francisco 3 times since 2020 (he’s not far from La Loma), this is the first year I have secured coffee from him. Some coffee from his extended family is used in our Community lot, Tikal Gold.
Francisco started his coffee farm journey as a child, picking coffee on his family’s land.
He thoroughly enjoyed this way of life and loved learning about particular farming and processing methods for coffee growing and processing.
He worked hard and saved up some money to buy a small plot of land of his own and started growing his own coffee. Through years of hard work he now owns the top plot in the area and is also the town Mayor.
Like me, he loves a good Sombrero, so on my last visit I gave him mine 🙂
