This coffee is from a cooperative called La Union which is situated North of the Nariño department. This area has rich volcanic soils from the Galeras volcano. La Union consists of approximately 800 producers, all growing at high altitude with well-defined rainy and dry seasons.
La Union has an ideal microclimate for the slow maturation of coffee cherries. Guamo Trees (Leguminose) provide shade and nitrogen, whereas the Banana and Citrus trees provide additional shade and contribute to cup characteristics.
