Butterworth & Son is a family run business whose origins can be traced back to the nineteenth century. Harry Butterworth plied his trade as a tea dealer in the Manchester area. The business in its’ current incarnation was re-established in 1976 in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk and named in honour of Ernest Butterworth.

Found this tea in a local tea shop a few years ago. When it arrived in the cup, it was so clear and inviting it seemed a shame to put milk in it. So, for the first time ever, I didn’t and took it black. So glad I did. The flavour is just delightful and suits my palate perfectly. So much better than any of those supermarket brands.

A cut above the rest. The Rolls Royce of bagged tea. I emigrated to Santa Monica, California many years ago. This is the only tea my wife and I now drink daily. We love it. I’ve tried a few but this creates the best cup of tea for our water. Every time I go home to Suffolk or have incoming visitors we make sure to replenish our stock of Suffolk Special Blend.

The greatest tea ever! Living in a hard water area means that a half decent tea often tastes…off. However you don’t have this problem with Suffolk Special Blend. Each cup (or mug!) tastes exactly as it should every single time.
