This rare Guatemalan decaf is an exquisite blend sourced from the coffee-rich regions of Fraijanes, Acatenango and Huehuetenango, these farms produce beans that thrive in volcanic and clay soil, high altitudes and diverse microclimates, resulting in a truly unique flavour profile.
Decaffeinated using the sugarcane process, this coffee undergoes a natural and gentle method where ethyl acetate, derived from sugarcane, removes the caffeine while preserving the beans’ vibrant characteristic.
This blend is a testament to the dedication and hard work of the farmers at El Zapote, Villaure and La Esperanza that make up this unique lot. It captures the diversity of Guatemala’s coffee heritage, offering an exceptional, caffeine-free experience that does not sacrifice flavour.
*The Ethyl Acetate Decaf is a non-chemical process that works by soaking the green coffee in a bath of water and a solvent, ethyl acetate, which is naturally derived from fermented sugar, among other natural sources. The solvent bonds to the salts of chlorogenic acid within the coffee and allows for the extraction of the caffeine. The coffee beans are removed from the bath and steamed at a low pressure to ensure there are no traces of E.A left. The finished product is almost entirely free of any caffeine content.
